Fight to Win

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.' Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him. (Matthew 4:10-11)

If we fight, we win.

(Are we fighting?)

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

I think that we are not fighting--we are afraid to fight. We live in a society where we are more concerned about others' opinions of us and our prosperity than we are with being ambassadors for Christ. I experienced an instance the other day where I could have spoken up for Christ and did not due to pride concerns.

We, as Christians, need to pray for the strength to serve and represent our Master well (as well as we can in our sinful nature). God will give us the courage if we ask Him for it.
